Rainbow’s Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

You were a constant companion, loyal and loving to the end which came much too soon. While our days together were too brief, the memories from them are numerous. The gentle wag of your tail in greeting, the slightly cocked head and raised ears when you were being playful.   The insistent paw on the leg when you wanted just one more scratch behind the ears. Your intense and calculating stare as the mark was thrown and the look of pure unadulterated joy as you returned with the duck, always looking for just one more chance for another retrieve.
Your zeal for life could only be matched for your love of water and that of your master.   When you ran the earth trembled under your feet and the air sang joyous through your fur.   The drum of your footfalls synchronized with the beat of your heart, you flew across fields, the grasses parting in your path.
Now with your heart stilled and ours left with the sorrow of your passing, you are free to run across the fields of glory, parting the clouds and making thunder in your wake.   Knowing that you are free of all earthly bonds and that you are with those that were loved and lost before you gives us a sense of peace, although the hurt will remain yet for some time.   The knowledge that we will someday join you in life’s journey eases some of the pain, as well as knowing that you will be there to greet us with your smiling face to show us the way home.
May all of your birds be flyers, all of your retrieves be on water, and when you run, run with the wings of angels.   We love you sweet boy. Until we meet again.
P.S.   Just because the angels have wings, it doesn’t mean that they are ducks!!!

 YOU WILL TRULY BE MISSED

  • CALL NAME: “FERGIE”

FERGIE BECAME VERY ILL DURING THE LAST WEEK AND A HALF OF HER PREGNANCY. WE WERE ABLE TO KEEP HER GOING LONG ENOUGH TO INSURE THE SURVIVAL OF HER PUPS, BUT UNFORTUNATELY WE LOST HER DURING A C-SECTION ONCE SHE WENT INTO LABOR ON CHRISTMAS EVE. WE ARE NOW HAND RAISING HER LITTER OF 12 PUPS WITH THE HELP AND SUPPORT OF OUR VET AND HER MOTHER WHO RAISES CHIHUAHUA‘S AND HAS A LOT OF EXPERIENCE IN  REARING PUPS. THEY ARE HANDLING THE YELLOWS, WE ARE CARING FOR THE BLACKS.

IT’S A HEARTBREAKING SITUATION, ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS WAS GOING TO BE OUR ONLY LITTER WITH FERGIE, SHE WAS GOING TO BE RETIRED. SHE WAS ALSO AN EXCELLENT MOTHER, ALWAYS WANTING TO HELP RAISE OTHER PUPS FROM OTHER MOTHERS. HOPEFULLY WE CAN DO HER PROUD IN RAISING THESE PUPS TO HEALTHY LABS

They say memories are golden,

well, maybe that is true.

I never wanted memories,

I only wanted you.

A million times I will miss you,

a million times I will cry…

If love alone could have saved you,

you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,

in death I love you still.

In my heart you hold a place,

no other pup could ever fill.

It broke my heart to lose you,

but you did not go alone.

For part of me went with you,

the day God called you home.

Your precious memory is my keepsake,

with which I’ll never part.

God has you safe in his keeping…

but I’ll have you forever in my heart.

If tears could build a stairway,

and heartache make a lane…

I’d walk the path to heaven,

and bring you home again.

Our family chain is broken,

and nothing seems the same…

but as god calls us one by one,

the chain will link again
