All Puppies are unique. They have different personalities and attitudes, as many Lab owners learn when their second dog is the same breed as the first, yet the personalities are entirely different. Puppies within the same litter have very distinctive and uniquely different personalities.

The Little Ladies in Red

High Energy – My little Aimee Firecracker. She can be challenging because this Puppy is easily distracted and very excitable. You need to muster up extra patience while being firm and determined when you handle her. Subdue the praise so you won’t over-excite this little one and have to start all over again. She will make a Great retriever and hunting partner.

VERY SMART-Is exceptionally intelligent, loyal, and versatile — when well-socialized and well-trained, she can learn and do almost anything. She is a go-getter and very coordinated. Would do great in agility.

Strong-Willed – or should we say “this Puppy has a mind of her own” but VERY trainable. You must exercise patience and be persistent in the process. Eventually she will “get it.” In the meantime, be firm and somewhat assertive and loud with your voice. Most important – lavish on the praise when this puppy does what you want her to do.

The Little Gentlemen in Red

Shy -This puppy is a lot of fun but one that needs sensitivity and kind patience. He may be timid at times. Use a soft tone of voice and use a leash but no leash corrections . Love, affection is important. He is very confident but loves to retrieve one on one.

Responsive – this Puppy wants to be a people-pleaser. He is eager to learn and is a quick study. Handle him in a normal manner and be very generous with your praise. Leash, voice and corrections can be vigorous but don’t overdo it – no more than necessary. This is still a puppy. He is very confident .

Calm and Easy Going – Lives life at a slower pace than most Puppies. Commands should be firm but loving and lavish praise is essential. Patience and tolerance will get the job done better than harsh tones of voice and harsh corrections. Leash corrections in a gentle manner only as a last resort. He is my laid back cuddle bug.
